Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues.

It is made of an acrylic resin, sometimes reinforced with various metals. Dentures are made to resemble your natural teeth closely, so they do not change your appearance, except for the better

Crowns & Bridges

A dental crown is a type of dental restoration which caps a tooth restoring them to their natural size, shape, and color.
Crowns are usually used to strengthen teeth that are weakened when a large cavity threatens the health of a tooth.

A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth by joining it permanently to adjacent teeth or dental implants. Different types of bridges are used, depending on the way they are fabricated, as well as the way it is anchored to the neighboring teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Teeth naturally acquire a darker shade over the years due to regular consumption of tea, coffee, wine and smoking. There are generally 2 options for whitening :

Take home whitening

  • Where trays that are preloaded with whitening gel are to be worn for 1-2 hours at home
  • Home whitening happens over a longer period of time

In office whitening

  • In-clinic chair side whitening normally uses a concentrated whitening gel
  • the gel is applied onto the surfaces of the teeth for about ten to fifteen minutes at a time and then rinsed off
  • The process is repeated a few times until a satisfactory shade is achieved
  • The whole process takes around an hour to complete and  the whitening effect can be seen at the end of the session

VENEERS

A veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain or ceramic that fit discreetly over the front of your teeth. They are about the thickness of a fingernail and are used for restoring worn, chipped, discolored and misaligned teeth. Once fitted they are indistinguishable from our natural teeth.

Orthodontics

A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear. You can look for the perfect smile at any age. An increasing percentage of orthodontic patients are adults who are choosing to improve their smile, health, and confidence. Teeth straightening usually involves wearing a brace, which can be fixed or removable

At Thurai Dental Surgery, we have a variety of braces treatment options to straighten your teeth depending on your personal requirements

Metal Braces

These are widely used, conventional type of fixed braces treatment. Although not the most esthetic type of braces, the benefits of metal braces is that it consistently yields good results, at an affordable price. Changing the elastic ties to multicolored ones will make having braces on fun and fashionable.

Tooth Coloured Braces

The use of ceramic braces and white coloured wires make the braces blend in with your smile , making it almost invisible.

Damon System / Self-ligating braces

The Damon System is not just about revolutionary braces and wires, it’s a whole new way of treating patients.Traditional treatment often requires removal of teeth and/or the use of palatal expanders to make space. This approach can be uncomfortable and takes longer. With the Damon System, doctors are able to deliver faster treatment with fewer appointments, and greater comfort while maintaining consistently high-quality results.

CLEAR PATH

Clear and nearly invisible. Clear path allows you to straighten your teeth with a series of removable clear retainers. Treatment times range from 1 year to 2 years.

Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment, or Endodontics involves treatment of the dental pulp. It involves the cleansing and removal the of infected pulp or nerve, and subsequent filling of spaces once filled with dental pulp

Root canal treatment is necessary when the vital blood supply of the tooth is affected either by trauma or bacterial damage, often resulting in an abscess formation around the tip of the tooth root.

This allows you to retain the use of the tooth which would otherwise require extraction, creating cosmetic and functional problems.

Periodontics

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the treatment of gum diseases and also structures that surround the teeth, i.e (gums, ligaments, bone)

Gum problems that would require expert management by a  Periodontist (gum specialist) are :

  • Bleeding and swollen gums
  • Shaky teeth
  • Receding gums
  • Bad breath

Some common procedures covered under gum treatment include

  • Scaling (cleaning)
  • Root planing (deep cleaning)
  • Gum surgery crown lengthening
  • Gum grafts and bone graft

The objective of periodontal therapy is generally to eliminate unhealthy tissue and to regenerate healthy surrounding structures in order to reestablish normal periodontal form, function and aesthetics.
